Iodine
tinctura de iod
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration currently recommends 150 micrograms (mcg) as the daily adult dosage ofiodine. The current daily intake of 13.8 mg by 60 million Japanese — one of the healthiest Western societies — supports the safety, indeed the benefit, of higher levels of iodine than those currently suggested by the FDA.
Dr. Wright has written extensively on the uses of potassium iodide, which is iodine in a form that’s chemically referred to as a salt of iodine. Specifically, Dr. Wright uses and recommends SSKI, or Saturated Solution of Potassium Iodide — a concentrated liquid form of the substance.
Baby boomers know from childhood that tincture of iodine is a good disinfectant for cuts and scrapes. When teenagers “pop a zit,” rubbing SSKI on the site will eliminate the zit in 24-48 hours.
Dr. Wright is very adamant that persons supplementing daily with iodine have their thyroid function monitored regularly so that iodine overdose doesn’t occur.
Four beneficial forms of iodine are readily available: Three liquids — SSKI, Lugol’s solution, and Iosol — and the tableted Iodoral.

Colds & Flu#
Amantadine. Used to treat Parkinson’s disease and fatigue (especially in multiple sclerosis), amantadine is a prescription drug which also has been used to treat certain type A influenza infections. It is ineffective in treating colds, types of flu other than type A, and other types of viral infections.
Tamiflu. Oseltamivir, known by its popular trade name Tamiflu, is an antiviral prescription pharmaceutical medication used to treat type A and B influenzas in adults, adolescents, and children older than one year.
Relenza. Zanamivir, trade-named Relenza, is prescribed for the treatment, but not the prevention, of influenza types A and B in persons seven years and older. It is available as an injectable or an inhaled powder.
Sambucol. Substances that interfere with the glycoproteins HA and N can be strongly antiviral, preventing viral particles from attaching to healthy cells. Sambucol works by interfering with HA and N on the coating of the viral spikes, thereby preventing adhesion to normal cells.
VIRA 38. An over-the-counter botanical preparation, VIRA 38 is represented by its manufacturer PRB Pharmaceuticals (California and Hong Kong) as being a broad-spectrum antiviral effective in treating and preventing influenza.
Oscillococcinum. A homeopathic remedy that has proven itself over time is Oscillococcinum, or Oscillo for short. Packaged in the form of small pellets which are taken sublingually, Oscillo is pleasant tasting, safe, non-toxic, and well-suited for children and adults.
Vitamin C. This product is an old but powerfully-effective standby. Vitamin C is both antibacterial and antiviral and, as such, is effective in treating flu viruses as well as cold viruses and their bacterial complications. In the case of a bacterial or viral infection, high doses of vitamin C must be taken—in the range of at least 1,000 mg (one gram) per hour.
Vitamin D. Among the many vitamins that con-tribute to our good health, vitamin D is gaining recognition as a superstar. Adults should obtain a minimum of 1,000-2,000 IU (International Units) daily of vitamin D3 during summer months, and double that amount during the late fall, winter, and early spring. This can be achieved through one or a combination of the following: sunlight exposure; dietary intake of vitamin D-rich foods such as cod liver oil; or supplementation with pill-form D3, cholecalciferol, not D2 ergocalciferol. Pill-form supplementation is the simplest means of achieving the correct amount. Daily amounts up to at least 10,000 IU are known to be safe, and some experts believe the non-toxic daily dose may be closer to 40,000 IU.27 For treating colds or flu, some doctors now recommend 50,000-100,000 IU of cholecalciferol daily for several days only. 5,000 IU recommended.

Indigestion#
What are the solutions to GERD, indigestion, heartburn, gas, bloating, etc? Several well-established remedies exist that are essentially side-effect free.
Hydrochloric Acid. By age 50, many persons produce only 15% of the hydrochloric acid produced by 25 year olds, and over 35% of everyone over 65 produce no HCl. Persons who have no indications of stomach ulcers should begin with 10 grains/650 mg. To determine the correct level, increase the dose by one capsule (or tablet) with each meal until a warm sensation is felt in the upper part of the stomach. Thereafter, reduce the dose by one capsule. If no warm sensation is experienced taking five capsules, continue at this level. Under no circumstances should more than five capsules be taken at a single meal. Also, take the capsules following the meal so that the stomach naturally produces as much acid as it’s able. Betaine HCl is sold in healthfood stores.
Zinc & L-carnosine. Lane Laboratories manufactures the product Nature’s Lining which is an analog of the zinc-carnosine combination studied in Japan. Nature’s Lining is available from health food stores, or can be ordered on the internet by searching for “natures lining.” 75 mg of zinc-carnosine twice daily.

Migraines#
In actuality, it is estimated that up to 75% of all headaches are tension headaches. This type and also those of a more serious nature may receive help from the following remedies:
Butterbur. The herb butterbur, known botanically as Petasites hybridus, has been used for centuries to treat a variety of ailments including asthma, colds, fever, urinary complaints and whooping cough.
Properly-prepared formulations of butterbur, including Petadolex, remove the alkaloid pyrrolizidine, a substance contained in native butterbur that is toxic to the liver and possibly carcinogenic. Petadolex by Enzymatic Therapy is available in health food stores, or can be ordered on the internet by doing a key word search for “petadolex.”
Food Triggers. Many authorities consider certain foods to be triggers (precipitating factors) of headaches. Among the most common are caffeine, chocolate, citrus fruits, cola beverages, dairy products (e.g., cheese, ice cream, milk & yogurt), eggs, grains (including barley, corn, oats, rye and wheat; gluten—a gray, sticky mixture of proteins found in wheat, rye and barley — can be a particular offender), sugar and (red) wine. Elimination of some or all of these foods can do wonders for many.
MigraSpray. MigraSpray® has been shown to be an effective, fast-acting migraine treatment. www.migraspray.com
Peppermint Oil & Ethanol. Peppermint oil is available in health food stores, and ethanol is available in liquor stores as pure grain alcohol. Mix the two together before applying to the skin.
Riboflavin. 400 mg of B2. If supplementing with extra B2, it’s best also to supplement with a protocol containing all of the B-vitamins (B complex).
Magnesium and HCL. The treatment is administered over a period of five to 15 minutes, and has the ability to abort over 95% of migraines before the needle leaves the arm. Oral magnesium supplementation at the level of 300-400 mg daily (in two divided doses with meals) also has been shown to prevent the onset of migraines. For some migraine sufferers, the combination of oral magnesium and riboflavin is particularly effective.
Teeth & Gums#
Odontis BioTooth – During the procedure—which requires only a local anesthetic—small balls of specially-prepared stem cells are implanted into the gap previously occupied by a tooth. Within a period of about two months, the stem cells grow into a new, full tooth. During the growth process, stem cells also produce bone which anchors the tooth into the jaw. The cost of the procedure will be about USD $2,500-$3,500. Researchers hope the technology will be available within the next several years. To learn more, visit www.odontis.co.uk.
The following natural remedies help prevent and treat gum, bone, and tooth problems.
Peri-Gum. One product that’s effective in treating gum disease is Peri-Gum, an herbal mouthwash combining the seven herbs bayberry, bloodroot, cayenne, echinacea, peppermint oil, tea tree oil, and white oak bark. Peri-Gum is marketed as a concentrate, with a one-ounce bottle making about 90-ounces of mouth-wash. To place an order call Lesko Care, LLC at (908)272-3081, or visit www.perigum.com.
Fizz & Clean. When it’s inconvenient to brush after a meal, Fizz & Clean tablets produce a bubbling action that dislodges food particles from around the teeth. It has been shown to whiten the teeth and reduce plaque, decay-causing bacteria cavities, and bad breath as well. Its manufacturer, OraHealth Laboratories, calls the product “a tooth-brush in a tablet.” For more information, visit www.fizzandclean.com.
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10). Periodontal (gum) disease is associated with low levels of CoQ10. Even in the most severe cases of periodontal disease, increasing its intake through oral supplementation can produce dramatic benefits. Topical application of CoQ10 has been found to be a very effective treatment of periodontal disease. //Q-Sorb// by Jarrow Formulas provides a highly absorbable form of Q10. Ubiquinol, the reduced and even more bioavailable form, is perhaps the most effective form of Q10.
Xylitol. The unique sugar substitute Xylitol has been shown to increase bone density. It is also known to prevent tooth decay by preventing bacteria from adhering to tooth surfaces. Xylitol also helps reduce periodontal disease by preventing bacteria from adhering to skin surfaces within the mouth. Either of these benefits can cause a significant reduction in pain over time.
The Gerald Judd Protocol: The book Good Teeth, Birth to Death: The Prescription for Perfect Teeth. In his book Good Teeth, Birth to Death, Dr. Judd describes the chemistry that is the basis of tooth decay and gum disease. He states that he has learned the real causes of dental cavities and gum infection, and that an overwhelming amount of dental research proves the following:
Cavities/Decay
- Only acids — which are introduced into the mouth from food and drink — are capable of eroding tooth enamel (calcium hydroxy phosphate), and causing cavities. Protons of the acid quickly pull phosphate from the enamel. Food and drink not containing acids have no action on tooth enamel.
- Sugars are not capable of having any action on tooth enamel. Sugars are not the cause of tooth cavities to any great extent, but still it would do no harm to rinse them off the teeth after consuming candy, especially the sticky variety. The adhering barrier will prevent re-enamelization.
- Bacteria are not capable of having any action on tooth enamel. Both human and animal remains show teeth and bones are resistant to earth-bound organisms such as bacteria. Teeth cannot be affected by bacteria, because enamel contains no carbon or hydrogen upon which bacteria subsist.
- When acids are properly removed from the teeth, cavities do not occur. Removal of acids is easily accomplished by simply sipping water, milk, coffee, or other non-acidic liquids while eating. The acids quickly react chemically with the liquids to form hydronium ions, thereby saving the enamel.
- Harmful acids (with a pH <4.0) which attack the enamel include lemons, grapefruit, oranges, pineapple, kiwi, tomatoes, vinegar, cider, vitamin C (especially chewable) and stomach acid. The lower the pH, the more rapidly the acid’s attack.
- Teeth are able to re-enamelize when clean. Teeth are best cleaned by brushing with any bar (not liquid) soap. Bar soap does an excellent job in cleaning tooth surfaces, enabling the enamel to thicken and causing the teeth to become less sensitive.
- Toothpastes containing glycerine — which most do — are very sticky, requiring over 20 rinses to re-move it from tooth surfaces. Glycerine-containing toothpastes leave a residual film, preventing the teeth from proper re-enamelization. Soap, on the other hand, is removed with two rinses.
- Dietary or supplemental calcium and phosphate result in tooth re-enamelization, but only when the teeth are clean. Re-enamelization is necessary on a daily basis as enamel leaches slightly with water over decades, even in the absence of acid. Without re-enamelization, having healthy teeth is not possible.
- Abscesses can be offset by holding Cepacol (14% alcohol) in the mouth for five minutes.
Gum Infection
- Gingivitis is an irritation of the gums. It is usually caused by plaque, a poorly-formed, bacteria-containing crystalline structure that adheres to the outside of tooth enamel. Bacteria contained in the plaque accumulate in the small gaps between the gums and teeth, producing toxins that cause inflammation of the gums around the teeth. Over time, inflammation can cause deep pockets between the teeth and gums and loss of bone that anchors the teeth — a condition known as periodontitis. Although bacteria do not cause cavities/decay, they are a source of irritation and inflammation which may lead to infection. Gums are disinfected and plaque is prevented and eventually removed by brushing with any bar soap. Procedures which remove plaque dig holes through the enamel, causing food to adhere in these areas, attracting bacteria and causing gum infection.
- Gum pockets are formed not only when plaque pushes the gums away from tooth surfaces, but also by using toothpastes containing fluoride (or when fluoride is introduced into the oral cavity by other means) — which severs the protein molecules that bind the gums to tooth surfaces.
- Gums can be reconnected to the teeth by taking vitamin C (ascorbic acid; 1 level teaspoon / four grams) with Arm and Hammer baking soda (one-half teaspoon) in one inch of water in a glass. Let it fizz and then dilute to one-half to one cup with water; then drink. The resulting sodium ascorbate is non-acid, very pure and 1,000 times more soluble than vitamin C. Sodium ascorbate is more reactive than ascorbic acid in building connective tissue and antibody structures and more effective in killing some viruses and bacteria. This will help knit the gums back to the teeth. Pressing against the gums with the fingers forces adhesive materials from the gums onto the teeth, which helps the process. Receding gums and plaque are ended when soap is used for brushing and vitamin C is taken daily in the form mentioned.
- Phosphate is also an important ingredient in gum repair. Monosodium phosphate is the best supplemental form of phosphate since it is very pure and highly soluble in water. Dissolve about one-fifth teaspoon (one gram) in one inch of water in a glass; then fill the glass and drink daily. This is helpful for all the bones, teeth, DNA, RNA and at least 30 phosphate-containing enzymes. Phosphate also regulates body pH. (A good source of food-grade monosodium phosphate is V.L. Clark Chemical Company, www.vlclark.com.)
- Receding gum surgery, which may involve transferring flesh from the roof of the mouth to the excised area, is a heinous and useless procedure which ought to pass into oblivion. Receding gums are nothing more than gum pockets caused by the use of toothpaste and fluoride.
Fluoride
- Removal of fluoride from drinking water, toothpastes and gels saves the enzyme adenosine diphosphatase so it can deliver phosphate to calcium at the tooth surface, resulting in a beautiful enamel.
- If fluoridation were effective in preventing cavities, Native Americans would have the least cavities. They have had forced fluoridation for approximately 60 years.
- Fluoride in water at one part per million (ppm) increased tooth cavities in four large, reliable studies (7%, 22%, 45% and 10%—averaging 21%). The reason is that adenosine diphosphatase is destroyed by fluoride and calcium fluoride, which slips into the enamel, is alien to the tooth composite and makes the enamel weak, brittle and discolored.
- Methyl mercury formed from amalgams is deadly. It causes brain disease. Fillings made of quartzite and epoxy are a safe substitute.
- Fluoride is the smallest negative particle on Earth. Since the fluoride particles are so small and so intensely negative, they connect with the hydrogen enzyme molecules at very low concentrations — around 1-3 ppm. The mechanism for destruction of enzymes by fluoride has been proven by x-ray analysis. Hydrogen bonds have been shown to be broken by fluoride.
- Avoiding fluoride prevents more than 114 ailments listed with references in Dr. Judd’s book. These 114 medical side-effects range from cancer to headaches, which are caused by levels as small as one ppm of fluoride in the water.
- Fluoride harms the economy by requiring people to purchase sources other than fluorinated water. It also harms the economy by making people dependent upon undependable professionals that know nothing about its effects. Lack of knowledge about fluoride’s detrimental effects is worldwide.
- The lethal dosage of the fluoride compound (fluoroacetic acid) for a 110 pound person is 2.5 mg, compared with 400 mg for arsenic oxide. Toothpaste companies are now required to place a warning on tubes so children will not consume enough of the 1,000 ppm (.1%) material to make them sick or cause death. This requirement arises out of lawsuits in which children were poisoned by fluoride-containing toothpaste.
- The best available data indicates about 120,000 cancer patients are killed annually because of fluoride in their drinking water. These include patients with every type of cancer. Dentists share some responsibility due to their efforts in convincing city councils to put fluoride in the water for “the children’s teeth.” The unique character of fluoride ions in destroying enzymes deserves attention. In summary, according to Dr. Judd the health of our teeth will increase to be very nearly perfect if the regimen of water rinsing, soap brushing and taking calcium, phosphate and vitamin C in the diet is implemented. Wet the brush, swipe the bar two or three times, then brush the teeth thoroughly and the gums gently. Rinse with water three or four times. All oils are thus washed off the teeth and the gums are disinfected. The bacteria are killed by the soap. The teeth are then ready for re-enamelization with calcium and phosphate in the diet. A special soap for teeth cleaning is offered at www.inspiredliving.com. Good Teeth, Birth to Death: The Prescription for Perfect Teeth can be purchased online
Emdogain. Mild to moderate periodontitis affects most adults at some point in life, while 5–20% of any population suffer from severe forms of the disease. Straumann Holding AG of Basel, Switzerland has developed a regenerative system that offers treatment options to support both tooth preservation and oral bone augmentation. Emdogain is a gel topically applied by the dentist to root surfaces exposed by routine flap surgery, where the gums are lifted away from the tooth, plaque is removed, and the gums are re-sewn snugly around the tooth. The innovative product helps stabilize teeth and improve the outcome of periodontal surgery by stimulating lost bone and regenerating tissue structures that anchor the tooth. Studies show Emdogain patients regain about 65% of lost gum tissue within 16 months of treatment.
BoneCeramic. One in five dental implants requires bone augmentation either prior to or con-current with implant placement. The patient’s own (autologous) bone, from the jaw or elsewhere, is the preferred material. However, limited quantities are available and the procedure can result in pain and complications at the donor site. Bovine bone and human cadavers are two additional common sources. BoneCeramic is a very attractive al-ternative as it is fully synthetic. It supports the regeneration of and is gradually substituted by the patient’s own bone. In comparison to bovine-derived material, BoneCeramic achieves equivalent new mineralized bone and more vital tissue after six to eight months.
Secrets your dentist doesn’t want you to know
- Ultrasonic Cleaning: Ultrasonic instruments vibrate plaque and calculus off your teeth, even in areas below your gums. It is much more comfortable than old-fashioned hand scraping. They can remove heavy stains (like tobacco and coffee) from the tooth and even treat periodontal disease.
- Your dentist may be using mercury. None of the top dentists I spoke to would put mercury in the mouths of their families or their patients. They use a composite filling instead.
Oil Pulling#
Oil pulling heals totally “head-aches, bronchitis, tooth pain, thrombosis, eczema, ulcers and diseases of stomach, intestines, heart, blood, kidney, liver, lungs and women’s diseases. It heals diseases of nerves, paralysis, and encephalitis. It prevents the growth of malignant tumors, cuts and heals them. Chronic sleeplessness is cured.” It consists of swishing cold-pressed oil in the mouth (Sunflower or Seasme - ulei susan). The healing process is accomplished by the human organism on its own. In this way it is possible to heal cells, tissue and all organs simultaneously, the body itself gets rid of toxic waste without disturbing the healthy microflora. Dr. Karach says human beings are living only half their life span. They could potentially live healthy to be 140 to 150 years old.
Technique
In the morning before breakfast on an empty stomach you take one tablespoon in the mouth but do not swallow it. Move the oil slowly in the mouth as rinsing or swishing and Dr Karach puts it as “sip, suck and pull through the teeth” for fifteen to twenty minutes. This process makes oil thoroughly mixed with saliva. Swishing activates the enzymes and the enzymes draw toxins out of the blood. The oil must not be swallowed, for it has become toxic. As the process continues, the oil gets thinner and white. If the oil is still yellow, it has not been pulled long enough. It is then spit from the mouth, the oral cavity must be thoroughly rinsed and mouth must be washed thoroughly. Just use normal tap water and good old fingers to clean. Clean the sink properly, you can use some antibacterial soap to clean the sink. Because the spittle contains harmful bacteria and toxic bodily waste. If one were to see one drop of this liquid magnified 600 times under a microscope, one would see microbes in their first stage of development. It is important to understand that during the oilpulling / oilswishing process one’s metabolism is intensified. This leads to improved health. One of the most striking results of this process is the fastening of loose teeth, the elimination of bleeding gums and the visible whitening of the teeth. The oil pulling / swishing is done best before breakfast. To accelerate the healing process, it can be repeated three times a day, but always before meals on an empty stomach.
Step by Step
- Step 1: First thing in the morning on an empty stomach and before drinking any liquids (including water), pour exactly one tablespoon of sunflower or sesame oil (or whatever oil you have chosen) into your mouth.
- Step 2: Swish the oil around in your mouth without swallowing it. Move it around in your mouth and through your teeth, as if it was mouthwash (don’t tilt your head back to gargle though). You’ll find that the oil will start to get watery as your saliva mixes with it. Keep swishing. If your jaw muscles get sore while swishing, you’re putting too much into it. Relax your jaw muscles and use your tongue to help move the liquid around the inside of your mouth. When you do this correctly, you’ll feel very comfortable. Pretty soon, it will become second nature.
- Step 3: As the end of the oil pulling session approaches, you may notice the oil/saliva mixture in your mouth has become thicker. This is quite normal, since it is pulling out toxins from your body. When 20 minutes is up, spit out the oil into the toilet. Don’t be alarmed if it looks yellowish - this is also normal.
- Step 4: Rinse out your mouth a couple of times with warm water and spit into the toilet. Rinse and spit with a good mouthwash. I prefer to dilute with water (or use full strength), regular hydrogen peroxide and I rinse and spit with that. The hydrogen peroxide is very effective in rinsing out any toxins which may be left in the mouth.
- Step 5: Rinse out your mouth a couple of times with warm water and spit into the toilet. Rinse and spit with a good mouthwash. I prefer to dilute with water (or use full strength), regular hydrogen peroxide and I rinse and spit with that. The hydrogen peroxide is very effective in rinsing out any toxins which may be left in the mouth.
Toe and fingernail fungus#
Iodine. Iodine combined with DMSO (see Dimethyl Sulfoxide under Spinal Cord Injury) is effective in combating toe and fingernail fungus. To order SSKI, visit www.tahomadispensary.com. Enter “sski” in the search box.
Tea Tree Oil. Tea tree oil is an effective fungicide and bactericide, and is useful in killing a broad range of stubborn infections. It is safe for topical use, and does not inhibit normal cell growth. Continued application of 100% strength tea tree oil is effective in resolving many toenail and fingernail fungal infections — although it doesn’t smell very well.
Grapefruit Seed Extract. Extracted from the seeds, membrane and pulp of the ordinary grapefriut, grapefruit seed extract (GSE) is a broad spectrum antimicrobial similar in molecular structure to the well-known antimicrobial benzalkonium chloride.
Other products useful in treating toe and finger-nail fungus are Listerine — the mouthwash — and 3% (drugstore) hydrogen peroxide. Soaking the feet or hands with either has been effective for many. Also, Vicks VapoRub has been used successfully.
